Nowadays, almost everyone with access to the internet has some sort of personal social media page to their name. A Facebook to communicate with friends, an Instagram to post pictures, even a Twitter to share your thoughts with the world. You name it, your friends probably have at least one account. In fact, since almost every person has a social media page of some sort, employers have taken to searching the pages of potential employees to find new information that could aid the hiring process. But this new step in hiring has led to some controversy among the masses. Should a person's personal social media be consulted by employers? Or is social media a private space free of judgement? Social media should not be used by employers when investigating new potential employees to avoid discrimination and bias for or against a new hire, and avoid running into legal liabilities. As of recently throughout the United States, a highly talked and controversial topic has been prominent in altering the perspectives of many Americans. Racism has dated back to the early 1800s, becoming one of the most disputed issues in American history. More specifically, the prolonging concept of discrimination in sports has been a long term concern. Initially, in 1968, African American star athletes such as track runners John Carlos and Tommie Smith, each raised a fist during the playing of the national anthem, in protest to the current racial discrimination status at the time. The act of protest sparked and impacted further events to come. For or Against Group Projects?


Most people have had an experience with that lazy group in a project. Where the teacher announces their group and they know that they will have to do the entire project alone. Then stay up late and do all the work, and everybody gets the same grade! Or that one uncooperative person who must do their idea, but doesn't even help on it. I have had numerous experiences exactly like that. I usually stayed up doing all the work because if I didn't do it, nobody would. It made me so mad when they got the same grade as me, or even higher for not doing anything! I am against assigning group projects because of controlling group members, lazy groups, and being put with people who don't get along. Continue ...
